No Standing Anytime – a portrait doc

Hoshea Ben Judah is both beguiling and repulsive to his neighbors and passerby’s. He is an excommunicated, yet still practicing, Black Israelite and drummer who lives on the streets of Brooklyn, NY. He is a hoarder that calls a ‘No Standing Anytime’ city sign post his home. He sells African drums and traffics in goods traded by other street people. His mound of drums can be seen and heard from blocks away; his music reflects the rhythm of the city. He rejects the label ‘homeless’ and refuses social services, yet depends upon the charity of neighbors. A father of 10, he inventories his children as he eats a carton of gifted eggs. Lubricated by beer and marijuana, he spews racial pejoratives in a poetic rant critical of his detractors and admirers. In this unforgiving short portrait, he reflects on his life with joy and cynicism.
