"On Sunday, Feb 12th, our Senior High Youth led an educational service project with our children, as part of the Standing on the Side of Love campaign. After teaching our children a bit about love, marriage equality, and justice, we made Valentines to send to the NY State representatives who voted to support Marriage Equality." - Rev. Jude Geiger We developed this video with the Minister of Religious Education a week before and the congregation gave us free reign to shoot, edit and interview who we needed to tell the story. It premiered the day after Valentine's Day.
The video was a labor of love that was developed over a few months, but only came together a week before the shoot. The rushed intensity of the production is reflected in the pacing of the edit. We couldn't have done it without the passion of the Holstee team that took turns pedaling the tricycle in which our cinematographer was mounted. The bicycle, as a liberating medium for transportation, has been overshadowed by the automobile. In the next century we should ask ourselves, "Are we building a world for people, or a world for machines?"
Demonstrous Productions team was not satisfied to make a simple video, and the founders of Carrot Creative were sold an idea that pushed their own expectations. Our concept was to add a playful luminescence by added LED icecubes to the drinks of the Carrots. A camera recorded the festivities at regular intervals, creating a the timeplase seen in the video. What the video doesnt show is the live playback of the images seconds after they were taken. This created a fun conversation piece and "out-of-party-experience" as partiers could see themselves from above the space. The LEDs in the drinks were also a Demonstrous touch. The combination of the photographic feedback and glowing beverages allowed for a playful final moment that culminated in the >CARROT logo written in light.
